I made the corned beefiness (using Guinness) exactly as written and cooked it for 6 hours on the stove meridian. I then removed the meat (which fell apart) and added 3 pounds quartered new potatoes, 2 pounds baby carrots (cut in one-half) and an onion. I allow that melt for 20 minutes and then added a head of cabbage. I cooked an additional fifteen minutes. Then I removed the veggies and made a gravy out of the leftover stock using a slurry of stock and corn starch. This recipe was a huge hit last dark for our St. Patrick's Day assemble. Very authentic tasting and the peppercorns get soft as they cook, so when you seize with teeth into ane, you lot get a dainty kick without beingness overly powerful or chipping your teeth. This volition be our almanac tradition!

Wish there were more than v stars because this recipe deserves a x. Wife was in the hospital and I was fending for myself when I tried this. Put two briskets in the crockpot and headed off to work. Stopped at the deli and got some cole slaw and Swiss cheese on the manner home from work, and ended up wishing I had cooked twice as much. Took a couple of Large sandwiches to work the side by side mean solar day, and my coworkers forced me to share once they got a whiff. Kept asking the name of the deli where I bought information technology, and couldn't believe I made it myself. Well, here are your 10 stars from me and my office * * * * * * * * * *

This was so easy and delicious! I used both spice packets that came with the briskets and put everything into a slow cooker prepare on depression for x hours. The liquid remains red because of the nature of corned beefiness -- this does not mean it'southward not cooked. It is done when it is fork-tender. I also poured the leftover cooking liquid into a pot on the stovetop and boiled cabbage in it; it gave the cabbage actually good flavor.

Wowee! Very very good. I threw everything in the crockpot before piece of work, when I came home we had an awesome meal. I'm thinking I'll never just eddy another slab of corned beef in water once more.

Was happily surprised by this recipe! It was very like shooting fish in a barrel to perpare when you popular it all in the crock pot and just let it go all day. We concluded upward cooking it about 10 hours, and it was and then tender, easy to shred for sandwiches. Non extremely salty, the way I usually recall brisket tastes. We toasted the rolls, added swiss cheese and domicile made thousand island dressing from this site--Delicious! Will definitely exist going to this ane a lot through the colder months especially. Glad we did ii briskets, cause one certainly would non have been enough. Thanks!

My husband likes to consume, but it is hard to become him to critiqe anything I make. I always get "its fine" or "its Ok". Well, this corned beefiness made him mutter a few expletives while going "Oh my God! " Case closed, perfect recipie! *Hint: Used Dundees Honey blond beer, gave it a good flavour!*
03/xviii/2008
Thriftynin--I'm not sure why yous reviewed my recipe when you didn't make my recipe! Leaving out the beer and peppercorns is eliminating a swell bargain of flavor, so I'm non surprised that you said information technology was lacking in flavour. If you're worried nearly the alcohol, it cooks off and leaves behind the hops, yeast, etc. that give beer its flavour and these are imparted into the meat.
04/28/2007
I've made this twice at present and followed the recipe to a "T". This is one of the few things in life that I want to proceed to swallow long afterward I'thou full. It is THAT good! We'll never accept "plain ol'" corned beefiness in our house again.
11/23/2006
Prepared it in the morning time earlier work. Took near 3 minutes to throw everything in and plough it on. When I got home that dark, I realized I didn't have any breadstuff, and then nosotros used tortillas instead. Wrapped in tortillas tasted delicious. Used the remaining liquid to eddy some cabbage and carrots over the stove. That took an additional xxx minutes. Cheers for a succulent recipe!

This is the same recipe I take used for years Just afterward cooking I put it the refrigerator overnight. Simply before serving I slice it (and it slices perfectly) and place it in a 13x9pan and comprehend information technology with one or 2 cups of the reserved cooking liquid for 30 minutes. This just warms it and it tastes just like the best New York deli meat.
09/xx/2009
Wonderful recipe. My just suggestion is to let the brisket cool completely earlier slicing. The cooler it is, the more it will slice nicely instead of shred. I ordinarily cook it overnight, then scrape the fat off in the morning, scroll in foil to keep it moist, and put information technology in the fridge. Then, in the evening, yous can piece it super thin. Also, strain and save the broth to melt cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. To die for!!!

I won't give this annihilation less than 5 stars because information technology was really tasty. I cooked it in a dull cooker for 9 hours full. I volition definitely get the slow cooker mode from now on. Information technology was much ameliorate. It cruel autonomously and was really juicy. I took the beef out of the liquid and put it in a foil covered bowl, then poured the liquid into a large pot. I cooked red potatoes, baby carrots & one-half of a red onion for 15 mins in the liquid, and so added a modest head of cabbage (cut into wedges) for some other 15. Later I drained the veggies, I tossed them with a agglomeration of fresh parsley and ii T butter. But there's a bad: I've made corned beef without beer quite a few times and this time I decided to try it with a couple Guinness. What could be more flavorful than Guinness Stout? Well, I can tell you lot that it tasted virtually the same as when I brand information technology with just water and the aforementioned seasoning. I couldn't tell I used beer. Side by side time I'll beverage the Guinness on information technology'due south own and merely use water.

This is by far the all-time method of making corned beef I have ever used. I highly reccomend using the liquid left over to eddy potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbage i the meat is removed. If you use a stout such as guiness you tin make a very unique and delicious gravy from some of the kiquid 1 the veggies are removed. I actually put some of the liquid in a blender and toss in some carrots, onions, a few of the garlic cloves and some potato, and then alloy information technology into a slurry. And so just pour it into a sauce pan add some cornstarch/water mix and bring it to a boil. It really comes out quite phenomanal and is nothing anyone at your dinner table volition accept tried before. Cheers for the excellent recipe!
03/xviii/2007
Made this for my Irish mother who loves corned beef more than whatever other meat. She was more than a little worried virtually the amount of garlic and peppercorns. Her worries were totally unfounded, I didn't alter a thing and she is still raving most it.
09/24/2006
5 stars aren't enough for this recipe. Friends who own a DELI came to visit and fell in love with this recipe. John asked for the recipe considering he's going to try serving it at his shop.
03/19/2011
I took the advice of the virtually helpful reviewer (naples34102) and did mine in the crockpot on low. Ten hours later on and I had the all-time corned beef I have ever had. I was so impressed that I rushed out the very next day and purchased two more briskets so that nosotros could take it again soon. The beer olfactory property is pretty strong in the outset couple of hours just it eventually goes away and then don't let it scare yous off. No need to modify a thing with this recipe.
02/08/2011
Very piece of cake and tasty. I was a picayune worried about "humid" meat but, it was awesome. We had no left overs which is what I wanted so I could make sandwiches. Definately a keeper.
08/06/2009
I am Not a corned beef person, simply this recipe changed my opinion! I went from tasting corned beefiness peradventure once a year on St. Patrick'due south 24-hour interval to making this recipe once a month. I layer it with the "cola sauerkraut" recipe,(as well on this website), a slice of swiss, and some Yard Island dressing on some deli rye. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Can't say enough great things near this recipe....you actually have to effort it to believe it!
03/18/2013
I halved the recipe and used the crock-pot on low for 12 hours. The meat was so juicy and flavorful, autumn apart tender...so amazing that my husband said to run to the store and buy more corned beef while information technology is on sale. I don't remember we'll e'er swallow corned beefiness whatever other way...and information technology was then easy. Fabricated nifty sandwiches.
05/sixteen/2012
Are you kidding. Throw out all the other recipes for corned beefiness. This makes killer sandwiches. Yous dont need to bulldoze to Canters in LA or any other place that claims to sell the " All-time " . This is the best. Don't go any farther. Scooter Steve Utah Why is there non vi stars?
09/07/2010
This is an exceptional recipe that offers everything you might desire: ease of grooming and incredible outcome. I've used this recipe exclusively for nearly 3 years now but never bothered to rate it until I pulled it upwardly today to print for nevertheless Another coworker who requested my "fabulous corned beef recipe". It really irked me to meet the one star review by Jessica complaining about a lack of seasoning because this recipe (and corned beef in general) is all about loads of seasoning and flavor! Did she use a plaing brisket instead of corned beef? She said she never made corned beef before and I wonder if she knew what to buy. I strongly urge her to try the recipe over again and follow the directions exactly and she will take a meltingly tender slice of meat to be proud of. If there werre more stars bachelor I would scored this much college than just v.
03/20/2012
The reviews saying it's improve to make this on the stove meridian rather than in a dull cooker are incorrect. I make this every year for St. Paddy's day, and every year my invite listing gets longer and longer because more than people want this corned beef. Ane twelvemonth I made 2 briskets adjacent, one on the stove top and ane in the tiresome cooker. Every guest said the tedious cooker brisket turned out much, much better. It cruel apart, and tasted amazing. I follow this recipe to a "T," permit it cook on low for at least 8 hours, and feed a dozen or so hungry friends. I use the left over liquid to quickly cook some cabbage on the stove top - and people tell me it'south the best cabbage they've ever had. This recipe is hands-down a winner. I shared it with my mom and now it's the only ane she uses. Cheers so much for sharing!!!!!
09/20/2009
I made this recipe following the directions as given, adding a 2 big sliced onions along with the garlic cloves. I placed the spice packet contents into a foursquare of cheese cloth, along with the quarter cup + of peppercorns and the bayleaves to course a garnet. I cooked the corn beef (on the stove)using Guiness, until it pierced easily with a fork (I constitute cooking it longer, fabricated it fall apart nearly 2 to 2 1/2 hours) and we like it sliced rathered than pulled. After the meat was removed, I added potatoes, carrots and cooked til tender. Once the meat was cooled, I sliced thinly with an electric pocketknife. What was left, I stored in the refrigerator and fabricated Reuben's using rye bread, Thousand Isle Dressing, and Claussen's sauerkraut with slices of Swiss cheese. Then grilled the sandwiches until bread was nice and toasty chocolate-brown! Two meals in i and then some! Crawly! Definitely will make once more and again!
09/14/2009
this is the best corned beef I have ever eaten.
03/eighteen/2007
I prepared this for a festive St. Paddy'southward Day gathering last night, and non a speck left on the platter, and rave reviews! I prepared in the slow cooker, showtime 2 hours on high, last 6 or so on depression. I added about 2 i/2 bottles of Harp, and added tiny potatos, carrots and cabbage correct into the mix. Perfect! Sincere thanks, I'll be making this many more times.
04/20/2006
My married man said that the corned beef was even ameliorate than in some of the delis in NYC!
12/13/2009
So delicious! I volition never make corned beef whatsoever other way. So ridiculously piece of cake too. I had about 5 minutes to spare before work and I was somehow able to get this in the crockpot with everything and I still wasn't late for work. This doesn't have to be for sandwiches only, I plan on using the leftovers for Reuben Soup (likewise on Allrecipes.com)
07/27/2006
I idea this was just fabulous! I put it all in the crockpot on low all day. Got home from work shredded it served information technology on the kaiser rolls equally recommened with lots of red onions and spicy mustard! Oh yeah...made the coleslaw too. Very good meal.
01/05/2009
This is the most tender corned beef I take e'er had...and the taste un real....I will make this over and over....Fantastic....Thank you for the recipe
03/14/2007
Agree with previous reviews that five stars aren't enough. Was leery about all that garlic, but decided to follow recipe exactly and so make modifications in the futurity if it was "close". Well, it striking the bullseye!! Family raved, and I'm making a double batch for our St. Paddy's get-together.
03/16/2010
This recipe is awesome! Had it tonight for dinner and my BF loved information technology! The but thing I change is this: have about 1/4 cup of brown sugar and rub it onto the brisket before putting information technology into the beer/water. This helps infuse a deep, rustic, rich season to the meat. It doesn't arrive sweetness. Cooked information technology in my slow cooker on depression for 8 hours, took it out and popped my potatoes, carrots, and cabbage in for almost an 60 minutes/hour and a half. And so Good!
12/13/2010
I volition agree that this is a tasty recipe. I followed the given recipe and everyone loved it. The reason I am rating this with but 3 stars is because of the taste of the leftovers. The garlic season was so much stronger that information technology was unappealing. The texture of the meat was non flavory. I always brand more than I wait to serve for dinner because the leftovers make such delicious sandwiches. Such is not the example with this item recipe.
03/17/2007
Delicious! I used 2 bottles of Guiness beer and beefiness goop instead of h2o to cover the brisket. It was perfect in exactly 3 hours. While the meat was setting, I used the stock to boil some Yukon golden potatoes, fresh kale and golden beets. I also made the "Irresistible Irish Soda Bread" and served that with the dinner. Absolutly perfect St. Patrick'due south Day meal! Don't forget extra Guiness to drink with dinner. I am freezing the remaining stock considering the beer and garlic flavor was fantastic.
03/26/2012
5-star rating - for sure! I fabricated this for our St. Patrick's meal, and we loved information technology. I made with 1 corn beef brisket and added potatoes and cabbage. The manager of the local liquor store helped me option a beer (as I am Non a beer drinker). He said the local chefs used 'Samuel Smith's Nut Dark-brown Ale' to melt their briskets. I purchased ane bottle and the flavor of the beer did not ruin the corn beefiness. You could slightly sense of taste it, but it was not offensive in this recipe. This recipe was and then proficient that I went back later the 17th and purchased another brisket to have this recipe again. Thanks SDK999 for sharing your recipe.
01/25/2006
Fantastic, I did the entire thing in my crock pot. I wouldn't alter a matter.
03/31/2007
ive never really been a big fan on corn beef, ran across this recipe, read the reviews, and then decided to requite a try. i did not employ the bay leaves or peppercorn, merely i placed in slowcooker for nigh 10 hours. used 24 ounze heiniken, i must say all day i was afraid that the beer was mode tooo much but when i first tried it i couldnt tell if i liked it, i kept picking like hmm hmmm, so the next mean solar day i made sandwiches used cornbeef, provolone, topped with only enough thousand islands sauce. it was outta this globe. at present im going to be making every couple of months, give thanks yous soo much for sharing :)
01/11/2007
The all-time habitation-cooked corned beef I've always tasted. Made it for the OSU game and information technology was the best affair that happened that night.
12/x/2007
PERFECT!!! I merely LOVE this recipe and so does my husband. I cook this all day on low in the crockpot and it comes out perfectly each and every time. This final fourth dimension, I put information technology in the crockpot before bed and 10 hours afterwards it was beautiful! I wouldn't alter a affair. The seasoning is cracking then is the beer. Thank you for this recipe postal service. This is my 5th time cooking corned beefiness this manner, and I have no desire to make information technology whatsoever other manner. It is absolutely wonderful alone or on sandwiches and my husband just RAVES everytime I prepare this. Try it with some sweet coleslaw on sandwiches or lone served with fried cabbage!! Job well washed, SDK999.

My hubby has awarded this the Best corned beef sandwich EVER and he has tried corned beef all over town! What started as a trip to our local deli for a corned beef sandwich and found that they were closed turned into a trip to the grocery shop and to this site. I am a newbie to corned beef and had NO idea where to start. This recipe was piece of cake and the best! My husband thinks I slaved in the kitchen all day preparing this.....I am not certain I will tell him otherwise :)
01/27/2006
This was fantabulous - I just had 1 corned beefiness, so I halved the recipe. The flavors were great - nosotros but had enough meat left over for 1 sandwich the next twenty-four hour period - I will definitely use 2 corned beefs side by side time!
02/21/2009
Very Skilful! I used a 2lb corn beef, one spice packet, an entire sixteen oz of beer (my hubby got carried away)cooked for 3.5 hours. Was delicious and flavorful. I thought my hubby had ruined it using all that beer but he didn't. But a notation: Neither of us like or drinkable beer.
11/xviii/2011
This is the BEST Corned Beef recipe! Made as instructed and had the moistest, tenderest and flavorful corned beef. Stove elevation past far is amend than a slowcooker for this cut of meat and the add-on of garlic was brilliant, it added fifty-fifty more awesome flavor. Use a brand of beer you like, it doesn't affair calorie-free or dark just equally long as you similar information technology. Don't worry about trimming the corned beef either because after y'all cook it you tin can simply scrap abroad the excess fat without any effort at all.
01/29/2012
This is a fantastic recipe. I omit the water and put in a slow cooker for effectually 9 hours on low. Melts in your oral fissure. Perfect for corned beef sammies on rye.
06/14/2009
This recipe is easy and the results are wonderful. I brought these sandwiches to a party and they were gone in no time at all. I considering putting 1000 isle dressing or mustard on the sandwiches, only after tasting the meat I decided confronting it. The corn beef was so tasty that any additive would simply accept distracted from the great sense of taste of the corned beef.
01/11/2007
I love corned beef merely my family just thinks it's so-so. This recipes finally got us all on the same page!!! I did everything exactly every bit written and it was fantastic. We had the sandwiches this weekend and my kids were nevertheless asking for more on MOnday. Adjacent fourth dimension I am going to brand iii briskets.
03/18/2013
I made this for St. Patrick's Day and this was one of the almost succulent meals I accept always made! I, too, cooked it in my slow cooker on high for viii hours and then added carrots and potatoes to the slow cooker after removing the meat. Very flavorful!
03/18/2014
I made this yesterday for St. Patty's 24-hour interval. I was a footling nervous because I had never cooked corned beef before and I wanted to serve my family Reuben sandwiches. I followed the recipe to the tee and permit me tell you lot it did not let me down. I cooked ii(3)lbs corned beef briskets and I am proud to say at that place is absolutely NO left overs. This recipe is definitely a 10 in my book. DH asked me end by the Grocer today to pick up another corned beef while they are still on sale. Give thanks you for sharing this fabulous recipe
03/22/2009
Delicious & simple! My first endeavour at corned beef & I'm glad I chose this recipe, tho' I did use the crockpot (1st hour on high). I used Guiness Extra Stout; it was worth the $1.50 for a bottle, as it added a distinct flavour. Halving the spice packet is a good idea if eating the beefiness fresh & warm. I used a whole pkt. for ONE 3 lb. point-cutting; the taste of it & i/two bulb (smashed) garlic cloves was a little besides stiff while steaming hot. The side by side twenty-four hour period, tho', the flavor had mellowed & was perfect. Information technology was too VERY easy to slice thinly later on refrigeration. I cooked the wedges of cabbage, onion, potato quarters, & carrot chunks in the flavorful liquid the final two hours. I also thickened slightly virtually 3 c. of cooking liquid with a slurry of most 2+ Tblsp. of cornstarch stirred with ii Tbsp. water - delicious! No need to waste that flavorful liquid!
03/19/2013
I threw everything in a slow cooker and cooked on low for 6 hours, so loftier for two hours. I did both packets of spices (not but 1) and served it on garlic toasted bread with the juices in a dipping basin on the side. It was absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be making this again!
03/17/2014
It is true. Look no farther. First fourth dimension e'er and this corned beef turn out perfect. I used a crock pot and cooked on low for 9 hours. AMAZING!
11/22/2006
My picky family (and I) just loved this. Made it on game day and the 3 briskets just disappeared. Give thanks yous!
03/02/2007
So piece of cake and succulent! Fifty-fifty my little ones wanted more since information technology isn't as salty as store-bought corned beefiness. This ane will be stored in my home cookbook where only the best recipes go!!
10/09/2014
Best corned beef always! Employ all the ingredients as noted and just put in a crock pot on low for x hours - perfect every fourth dimension!
03/09/2013
I've been making this recipe for years..... it's absolutely the best and easiest mode to make corned beef. My only comment... use a full bodied beer, non low-cal. You desire the beer flavor. Guinness is dandy, but any medium to nighttime beer volition work. I always double the recipe, it goes actually fast and I want some leftovers!
03/17/2008
This recipe is abolutely amazin. I left out the bay leaves (didn't have them) used a whole head of garlic and a small handfull of peppercorns along with the two bottles of Guiness and put all of this in the slow cooker on depression for 10 hours. It was merely falling apart it was then tender and the gustatory modality was simply amazing! I tin can't believe I used to simply eddy corned beef in h2o. I then took all the juices left in the irksome cooker and put it into a pot on the stove and added the carrots and the potatoes and cabbage to it. I also had to add ii cans of chicken broth (didn't have beef goop) to brand more liquid to encompass the veggies. They came out so flavorful they didn't even demand butter on them! Honest!! I will definately make this once more and also tell everyone I know how to brand the nigh amazing corned beef they have ever had in their whole life!!
09/twenty/2009
Easy recipe, great results. I smoke the briskit for 1 or 2 hours before doing this recipe in the crockpot or dutch oven over very depression heat. History gives differing accounts on corned beefs beginnings, only its well known as an Irish Dish, and also about jewish cafeteria's gear up and serve this likewise. Who actually cares....Its keen food!!!!
03/16/2009
This was the best corned beef I have ever had! So tender. I cooked a i.5 pound brisket in my 2qt crockpot for 10 hours on low. The last 30 mins I added cabbage. I used Ultra Light beer since that is what I had on hand, and the flavor was to die for. I made this with the Easy Irish Soda Bread and information technology was a big striking!
03/12/2007
our local cafeteria just lost customers for their corned beef sandwiches. This corned beef had a wonderful season and was so tender. Thanks for submitting
03/22/2013
This has been my tried and true recipe for several years and I fabricated the mistake of trying the Braised Corned Beefiness Recipe for our family unit meal. Large MISTAKE! I intend to quit experimenting and use this recipe from now on. I take never had it plough out tough or tasteless like the baked version did, and my family was in rebellion. I am just glad I bought actress corned beef while it was on auction and we were able to have the good stuff (this recipe) and I redeemed myself for the family. This recipe needs absolutely NO CHANGES! It comes out perfect every time whether I make it just for sandwiches or apply the goop to melt the vegetables and have a total corned beefiness dinner. Thank you thank you thanks!
03/14/2007
Have been testing recipes for big fustigate on Saint Patty'south day. I don't take to go whatever further...it'southward the best!
05/05/2013
Amazing every time! I follow the recipe to the letter and comes out wonderful each and every fourth dimension. Thanks for sharing!
06/25/2014
Used this for making Rueben's and it made the best Rueben's nosotros ever had. Bully recipe!
03/24/2009
I used this recipe for Reuben sandwiches and made bootleg Thousand Island dressing and these were better than any restaurant Reuben I've ever had. Splendid and easy!
01/19/2008
Since I can't charge per unit this more than 5 stars I'll rate it here. ********** 10 stars. I fabricated this for New year's day'due south Day exactly every bit called for. Afterwards I took out the corned beefiness I added carrots, red potatoes and cabbage and cooked for virtually an hour. Information technology was VERY good. I made leftover packets for work and information technology was fifty-fifty improve the next several days. I gave some to my dad and he said he ate every speck. Thanks for a great recipe, I'm making it over again today.
03/09/2009
I love this recipe. Where I alive, I accept never seen a corned beefiness brisket with a spice packet. I can't fit two corned beefiness briskets in my crockpot and then I make one at a time, as written, without the spice packet and with four cloves of garlic rather than a whole bulb. I just allow the brisket melt the whole day on low, and the results are spectacular! I probably make this once a calendar month. I brand reubens out of it the first 24-hour interval, then make corned beef hash out of the leftovers. Tin't say enough about how much we relish this! Thanks a bunch!
06/23/2009
perfect! i tin can't wait to make it again! (and over again, and over again...)
03/15/2009
Fabricated this yesterday and it was sooo skillful. Couldn't fit both briskets in my crock pot, so I did one on the stove on medium-low (closer to low) oestrus for approx. five one/ii hours, the other in the crock for about 10 hours. Used Guinness beer, a fiddling water and some beef broth, 2 bay leaves in each, white and black peppercorns, divided a spice package between them and a seedling and 1/2 of garlic, evenly divided. I did press a few of the cloves. I had never cooked corned beef before and then I was a fleck nervous, equally we were taking this to a gathering of friends....well they both turned out neat, tender and then tasty. The one from the crock pot was a niggling more than tender, only only barely. So added quite a bit of the cooking juices to a pot of veggies (ruby potatoes, parsnips, turnips, baby carrots) along with some water.....later used the juices with chicken broth and butter for the cabbage. Information technology was a great success....unproblematic Irish soda bread with Kerrygold Irish butter completed it beautifully.
03/17/2012
ths is excellent! i made these the day before st. paddy'south day and followed the diections except lowering the cooking fourth dimension to @ 6 hours on low in a slowcooker. i fabricated reubens with these with some rye bread and seriously tweaked potato salad. i volition non non make cornbeef whatsoever other manner. just superb!
01/02/2008
I also wish we could give more than 5 stars. This was a Big striking at my New year's day's party and I only wish I had doubled or even tripled it because information technology would of all disappeared. The person who said her cabbage turned out bitter might of added information technology at the start and caused the cabbage to cook too long. That has happaned to me using other recipes so I don't think it'south the mistake of this 1. Adept food is my life!!!
05/05/2012
WOW! That's all I tin can say near this recipe. Super simple, and it is the BEST corned beef recipe hands down. Followed the directions exactly, except I used about half dozen-eight cloves of garlic and non the whole seedling. There is no other recipe I volition apply on St. Patrick's Day ever again!
07/16/2014
I rarely brand corned beefiness because they usually plow out tough or stringy, but a local shop had brisket on sale for l% off, so I decided to try one more fourth dimension to cook one. After making this recipe, I sent my married man to buy 3-4 more before the sale ends! The meat was tender and succulent! I used a canteen of Guinness Actress Stout and poured the spice pack into a cheesecloth pocketbook and added them to the crock pot with the brisket. I also roasted the whole bulb of garlic in the oven for approximately 30 mins before adding it to the crock pot and cooking it all for about 10 hours on Low. We loved the meat on ruebens last night and I'thou sure we volition dear the hash I make with the leftover brisket in the morn! Thanks and so much for the wonderful recipe and restoring my religion in brisket made at dwelling house!
06/02/2009
Excellent! I've fabricated this several times in the crock pot and too on the stove top. Garlic peeling tip: Soak separated cloves in h2o for nigh 1/two hour and the pare peels off hands (snip the stem terminate off and skin downwardly).

I took the liberty of irresolute the recipe just a lilliputian, just a few pocket-sized adjustments. No beer... I put a 4 pound brisket into a dull cooker that is like in shape to a small-scale roaster. I put the fat side up and added the flavor package to the fatty and rubbed/patted information technology on. I and then added the water (approx 1 gallon) so the beef was covered but the fat was non submerged. I added three small bay leaves, 1/8 cups pepper corns, 4 crushed/minced garlic cloves and a table spoon of beefiness bullion and Cajun spices to the fat. Prepare the cooker on low (175 degrees) and cooked for 24 hours (covered). I didn't add any additional water later on the cooking process began. When removed from the slow cooker and used a butter knife to remove the fat, so I let information technology cool for about an hour. (cool enough to handle) I have a deli slicer... I cutting the brisket in half so that I take I expert surface for the slicing machine. I started the slicing process and it was and so tender information technology only fell apart. It ended upward looking more similar pulled pork than luncheon meat. Serving: Lightly browned so hearty rye in a skillet with unsalted butter. Spread horseradish sauce to the bottom slice, add together some provolone cheese, then stack the meat, add sauerkraut, and so 1000 island dressing, and then your height piece of rye. This was the best Ruben always...

This is a great recipe. I haven't cooked corned beefiness in fifteen years, much to my Irish husband's dismay. Y'all need to purchase the better cut of corned beef. I started with 4 lbs and I rinsed it off, and threw away the spice packet that came with it. Put it in my large crockpot with a can of cheap Budweiser, a bay leafage, a heaping tablespoon of chopped garlic, and 1/four cup of peppercorns pretty much as instructed. Cooked on high till it started simmering, thn put on depression. Turned the meat over periodically....probably for 8 hrs or so. Added cut up onions, carrots and potatoes. After 45 min added some cabbage. Ended up having to transfer to oven to complete cooking ...my fault. Once everything was cooked, Transferred all the goodies to another dish to go along warm and followed some other reviewer's recommendation and made some gravy with the juices, calculation extra water and a mix of water and corn starch. The simply affair I'd do differently side by side time is to put the peppercorns in a couple of sections of cheesecloth. They add great season simply I don't similar eating them. Think I'll be doing this recipe again this week for the real St. Paddy'due south Day!!

I made this tonite and it was a blast hitting. Words cannot express just how yummy information technology was. The only affair that I added was a one-half more than bulb of garlic (the bulbs were modest), and since I made 8 lbs in a roaster oven, I added a regular size can of beef goop to make sure I had enough liquid. It was then good and it melted in our mouths! The seasonings and beer were perfect in this recipe. I sliced up the brisket and made some hearty reuben sandwiches. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! I had saved it for future use.

This is just as good and fifty-fifty moister than deli fashion.

I did have leftovers (which seems like an bibelot with this recipe) and they reheat to be just as practiced equally they original, merely remember to add some of the sauce to store the meat it and it seems to soak up even more flavor!

This was the beginning time I e'er fabricated corned beef. The flavor was great and the meat was very tender. I only made ane brisket considering there were only two of us, and I got a lot of mileage out of information technology. The first nighttime I made potatoes, cabbage and carrots in the broth and served it with the hot corned beef. I wasn't crazy about the vegetables washed this mode. The side by side nighttime I fabricated corned beef hash with poached eggs on top and it was first-class. Finally, we finished upward with sandwiches of corned beef, cole slaw and Russian dressing on rye. I did them panini manner and they were SO practiced. I'grand getting hungry for them over again every bit I write this.

This recipe rates more than 5 stars.I cooked a 3.7 lb of flat brisket in my irksome cooker from vi:30 am to 4:30 pm on low and used 2 cans of Tall beer plus 2 cups of water to cover it with near an inch above the meat. I added the peppercorns, garlic plus the spice packet. I allow the meat sit for about 20 mins before slicing and it was wonderful. I strained some of the liquid into my dutch oven and used it to cook my vegetablse. I used minor red potatoes unpeeled, baby carrots and later on virtually 15 mins of these cooking I added my cabbage which was cut into wedges. My family who were here for dinner agreed it was the best corned beef dinner they have ever had. Thanks over again All Recipes for another " favorite ".

This is my become-to recipe for St. Paddy's Day and is always a crowd pleaser. I highly recommend using Guinness (cans are highly preferred to bottles b/c of the widget inside that keeps it well mixed - 1 tin per 3 lb. brisket), and also recommend tripling the amount of garlic per brisket - it really helps with the overall flavor. I also cook in the crockpot for most eight to 10 hours over low heat. Serve with a really slap-up rye bread (Oroweat has a really nice Dill Rye) that pairs well to bring out the flavors. And then easy to exercise - just make sure you purchase a good quality brisket :)
